SCHOLAR'S BOWL
Scholar's Bowl practice will be every Wednesday morning at 7:30.


Basketball assistants
The 2009 - 10 GHS Boys and Girls Basketball Teams are looking for students that would be interested in being part of the programs as either managers, computer statisticians or as a filmer. If interested contact Coach Scheopner or Coach Smith.


Dental Screenings
The Kansas Statute for Health Programs states....".......school districts are hereby required to provide for free a dental inspection annually for all children.....'. This screening will be done annually along with the Vision & Hearing.


Ineligibility (from Student Handbook)
During the time of an In School Suspension, a student may practice, but will not be eligible to participate and/or attend any school activity. Ineligibility lasts for the entire day and evening of the suspension.
Students absent any part of the school day will not be eligible to practice or participate in any athletic event or school activity held on that day (example - dances). Some exceptions MAY apply: doctor's appointment, other school activity and funeral. The principal must approve any exception.

ELKS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP -This is a scholarship that is open to families of Elks members. Other requirements are that student must be a high school senior, must apply online at: www.elks.org/enf/scholars. Application is due on January 8,10. See the counselor if you have any questions.


JOHN F KENNEDY PROFILE IN COURAGE ESSAY CONTEST This essay requires that you write an original and creative essay of less than 1,000 words that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by JFK in Profiles in Courage. If you are a high school student 9-12 grades. Deadline for this scholarship is Jan. 9,2010. First place winner receives a $5,000 cash award and $5,000 to go in a savings account. FHSU- KS ACADEMY OF MATH & SCIENCE KAMS is currently recruiting its 2nd class of high school sophomores, or the equivalent, who will begin their experience in August as juniors. This is a program for high school juniors and seniors with an interest in and aptitude for math and science. Tuition, books and frees are free for KS public school students. SWE WEEKEND OF ENGINEERING-KU SWE WEEKEND OF ENGINEERING AT KU-This is a camp for high school girls that gives you chance to look at Engineering. Open to all high school girls. PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP AT CCC If you plan to go to CCC, you could be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship. This is a 2 year scholarship award woth $1,500 per year. To be eligible must have a CGPA of 3.0 or above, be an exceptional individual and demonstrate leadership qualities and have an ACT score of 21 or above. If you qualify- please sign up in the counselor's office. Deadline for scholarship is January 22, 2010.
